Tragic Incident Unfolds: One Fatality in Fort Wayne Shooting

On Saturday evening, a somber atmosphere enveloped the Woodlake Estates mobile home park near Fort Wayne International Airport as the community grappled with the aftermath of a fatal shooting. Reports from the Allen County Sheriff’s Department (ACSD) indicate that the incident, deemed domestic-related, occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m.

ACSD Public Information Officer Brent Bollinger stated that an armed intruder entered a residence uninvited at the 100 Block of Chrisren Cove within the mobile home park. In response, the homeowner fired upon the intruder, resulting in the intruder’s death at the scene. Fortunately, the residents—a man, woman, and two children—escaped unharmed.

The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed, and the circumstances leading to the fatal encounter are still under investigation. Despite the unsettling nature of the incident, authorities have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to community safety. The investigation is proceeding with the support of the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office, which will later release information regarding the victim’s identity and cause of death.
