“SuperBike Brasil announces, with great sadness and regret, the death of rider Lorenzo Somaschini which occurred on Monday at 7:43 p.m. The Argentine, born in Rosario, had been admitted to the Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo in intensive care and, unfortunately, did not survive. The SuperBike Brasil organization has been providing full assistance to the rider’s family since Friday, when the Argentine rider crashed during the first free practice of the Junior Cup, valid for the 4th round of the SuperBike Brasil, at the Interlagos Autodrome. As soon as he fell at the exit of the Pinheirinho corner, the rider was promptly attended to on the spot by the medical team in an intensive care ambulance. He was then taken to the circuit’s emergency room, where his condition was stabilized. After this procedure, he was transported in an advanced support unit (mobile intensive care unit) to Pedreira General Hospital, where he remained until the early hours of Saturday morning, following all medical protocols, until his transfer to Albert Einstein Hospital. All members of the SuperBike Brasil team are saddened by the incident and express their sincere condolences to all of Lorenzo’s family and friends.”

Born in Rosario in 2014, Lorenzo Somaschini, affectionately known as “Loy” in the motorcycling community, was a promising young talent with dreams of becoming a MotoGP champion. He received his first mini-bike at the age of four, a gift from his father that ignited his passion for racing. Despite his young age, Somaschini had already made significant strides in his career, debuting in Buenos Aires earlier this year and competing in the Argentine SuperBike.
