Classic Lemon Bars Recipe

Gather Ingredients:For the crust: 1 cup unsalted butter (softened), 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1/4 teaspoon salt

For the filling: 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar, 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, 4 large eggs, 2/3 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice, 1 tablespoon lemon zes

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.

Make Crust: In a medium bowl, mix together the softened butter, flour, sugar, and salt until well combined and crumbly. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Bake Crust: Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until it is lightly golden brown.

Prepare Filling: While the crust is baking, whisk together the granulated sugar and flour in a large bowl. Add the eggs, lemon juice, and lemon zest, and whisk until smooth and well combined.

Pour Filling Over Crust: Once the crust is baked, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the lemon filling over the hot crust.

Bake Again: Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the filling is set and slightly golden around the edges.

Cool and Serve: Allow the lemon bars to cool completely in the baking dish. Once cooled, dust the top with powdered sugar, if desired. Cut into squares and serve. Enjoy your tangy, sweet lemon bars!
